We got an email this week. Samuel was scheduled for surgery soon. We don't know exactly what procedure they were planning to do. Since they knew he was being adopted they asked us if we wanted "it" done - which was very nice.

We had very little time to respond - my first feelings were no don't do it. We prayed about it, then asked the yahoo group that I joined for children with his disability and called the local specialist.

Everyone answered the same- WAIT for surgery until he gets home. He can be with his Momma and Daddy while he recovers and the procedure will most likely have a better result if it is done in the states.

We let our agency know what we wanted for "our son" (that sounds so good to me- our son).

Praying that everyone gets the message and he does not have surgery in Ch*na.
Please say a prayer for our sweet boy!

He has waited this long for surgery. He just needs to wait a little longer until he is in your loving arms as long as that is possible and in his best interest.

Tell Shonni you and her better speed up your paperwork so you guys can travel with me or we are just going to have to time everything better the NEXT time!!!!

It's such a hard decision to make. We got an email while we waited, too, and had less than 12 hours to answer. Lots of tears were shed.
Wishing you speedy responses to all your requests as you paperchase!

we also were asked about lip surgery for Sami, but we told them to wait. now that we have her home and the doctors here put an appliance in her mouth for almost two months before planning to do her lip repair, I can't even imagine what her repair would have looked like in china. Sami's lip repair surgery is scheduled for the 29th of this month!

That is great that they asked you...many times they do not. I would think that if they asked, they will wait for a response from you. :)

Jean - praying that the message gets around loud and clear!

As an aside, I have a certain fondness for your new son's names. :) My eldest is James and our newest will be Samuel. Great choices in my books. ;)

Jean, How wonderful that they actually considered his family's wishes and how great that he will have the surgery here with a mommy and daddy to comfort him and love on him in the process. That is wonderful.
