The Name Game!

I LOVE THE NAME GAME!!

Even though this is our last adoption I am expecting YOU to carry on the tradition!

I have played this ALL my life and would LOVE to continue playing it WITH YOU!!

We have "kind of" decided on this little guys name BUT as you know I sometimes change my mind!

We have been calling him
Joseph Michael.
Once home he will be "Joseph" and "Joey" to us.

Michael is after our friends son "Michael".
We know many Michaels and it is a great name BUT this is specific. . .

Michael went to live with Jesus when he was 8 yrs old.
He was such a wonderful little boy and we still miss him.
St. Michael is the Protector.

Our little guy has had many challenges in his short life.
I will share with you soon.
We feel God's guiding hand and we are planning to stick with this name.

However we are in a quandary with this little boy!

Hmmmmm?

I was so surprised with the names many of you chose!
They were on the top of our list too!

When big brother Johnny came home I asked him what names he liked?
He right away said "I like the name Will!"

I agree! We love it too!
However, He must have had a momentary memory lapse. . .
your brother Billy (William) would not appreciate it!
Believe me... I did try to think how we could get a "Will" into the family without completely stealing big brothers name!

Of course then when Billy came home he was only slightly amused and suggested we name him John and call him Jack!

Okay, I think these two are so funny!
I still chuckle over this one!

AND I love the name Jack too!
BUT we are not planning on naming him, Will or Jack!

Many mentioned the name MAX.
I like it but it's not hubby's favorite and the boys said no.

The two top names seem to be
Jacob (Jake) or Benjamin (Ben).

I love them both!
We have prayed about it AND have seen signs for both of them.

(BTW he's singing a song in these pics!)

(Oh God Bless Him- he is such a precious boy!)

I actually LOVE LOVE the name JAMES!
BUT, hubby said no (he is a James).
Maybe he'll change his mind?

So. . .
What do you see?

A Jacob(Jake)?

A Benjamin (Ben)?

or

A James?

I see a little guy that is not so happy about his leg/ankle braces!

Praising GOD for our two new additions!!

Can't wait to read your thoughts!!

I have always loved the name Jacob! I have been blessed with only girls so I never got the opportunity to use it. Jacob gets my vote!!

You could use both! Benjamin Jacob, or Jacob Benjamin.......or I love the name Will too:) How about Willis, or Wilson. I also love the name Oliver, or Owen. Owen Jacob or Benjamin Oliver.......??? Happy name hunting:) and blessings to you! Those are two ADORABLE little men:) Too precious!

He looks like a Ben to me. My youngest son is Benjamin. Love that name! (by the way, we have a John called Jack too!). Congrats to your family...

OR>>>>>>>> what about Oliver James??
I've always loved Patrick....
LOL this could get addicting:)

We vote for Jacob too! I delivered our very first child straight into the arms of Jesus, and we named him Jake. We still love that name.
BTW - we have two children that wore leg and ankle braces. They have very fun pattern choices for them at our hospital here. We always had a pair of "go places" shoes, and a pair of "at home" shoes to go over the braces, so wet, snowy or dirty shoes stayed at the back door. You will need to buy wide shoes, but not necessarily longer ones.
Can't wait to see what name you choose! We are already playing the name game for our adoption!!

For what it is worth from a complete stranger I think he looks like a Ben.... however what about Jerryn???

I love James and think it is fitting that Jim names his last son after him. You will call him James and not Jim afterall!!! But if no convincing hubby on that one then I have to say I see more of a Ben than a Jake with him!!

Dear Friend I know you too well and you will change your mind before it is all over!!! I just go along with you!!!

I love the name Benjamin Jacob, in that order. :-)

Congratulations on your boys!

I vote for Ben of the names you list, but also like Joshua! Congratulations on your new additions!

First of all . . .

. . . my hubby is James (Jim) and he did not want a son named James, either (but eldest son's middle name is James).

. . . my 19 year old son's name is Benjamin Jacob. So, naturally, I think that would be a GREAT choice for you. :)

. . . we named our adopted son, Jacob, and then had to disrupt the adoption. So, not such a great choice in my mind.

Benjamin Jacob is a wonderful, strong name.

LOVE the older boys and their name choices. :) My older boys would have done the same thing.

:) :) :)

Of the two mes, i like Ben better. There are just to many Jacobs. What about hunter or hudson true they are not bible names, but they are good strong names. What about Asher?

Angie said...

Ben is a sweet name. He looks like a Ben. But James is a form of Jacob...perhaps that would work? That is how our Jacob got his name. James is a family name...many in our family have that name and we didn't want to have another one, so Jacob it was!

Somehow he looks like a Jake to me!

Kerry B said...

My vote is for James and call him Jamie! Or Jacob James and call him J.J.!

FUN!!
I love the name Benjamin and there are a lot of Jakes out there but he does look like a Jake :)
Jacob Benjamin or Benjamin Jacob !!
As usual, whatever you decide will be perfect!! Sheri

Benjamin is my favorite of the three. A lot of little Jacobs around here, but Ben feels fresh.

What about Jedidiah or Tristan??

I see an Andrew or Drew for short.

I am also struggling over what to name our new addition when he comes. I love the name Nolan but hubby will have nothing to do with that LOL We will probably name him John but our big boy from Korea is John. We both agree on James but that rhymes with the family name.....I vote for James

My favorite boys' name is Liam. :)
I really like Zack and Max, too.

I have a Jacob so I love that name and we had a failed adoption of a Benjamin so I like that too. But I see a David - do you have one of those? I haven't been following too long and can't remember all the names yet. It means Beloved. I think of the verse ..," accepted in the Beloved..," He will finally know he is.
Happy Hunting!

Willard was my great uncle's name. Just a thought.

I'm no help with this! Actually I could use some suggestions for naming our "waiting" daughter. ;)

Donna said...

I think the last son should be named James as well. Maybe he would be a James Jr. and call him JJ or maybe Jamie!

Too many Jacobs right now, I think it has been one of the top boy names for several years.

I love Caleb as well. I can't remember if you already have a Caleb or not. Great name :)

Bridgett said...

Not that you need my opinion but I think you should go with Willard. I always wanted a Will also..and Willard is very different than your William!

Love to watch your household updates..you are my hero. We only just adopted our first, who joined four bio siblings. I don't know how you do it! Many blessings as you wait to bring your sons home. I will be checking in each day of your travel and reliving again what an adventure we had in China!

I like Jamin which is a shortened form of Benjamin. Levi is also a favorite of mine.

Mary DeGennaro said...

I really like Jake. You could just name him that, not as a nickname. I also think you could name him Jack, not as a nickname. James is a favorite of mine because my brother was named James, and we never called him Jim. Whatever you choose will suit them both. They are so adorable!

He looks like a Ben to me! They are both so lucky to be getting a family!

Oh Jean! I don't get on the internet much any more so I was so surprised to see BOYS!! Yeah:) They are both so precious!

I love Ben and Jacob both but my vote is for Ben:)

He looks like a Ben--a bit sweeter than Jake.
I have a 19yo Jake. We have NEVER called him Jacob, I really didn't even want it on the birth certificate. When he was 5 and went to K (we didn't homeschool until 3rd), at pick-up time, the teacher asked me about his hearing. When she called his name thru-out the day, he did not respond. I asked what name was she calling him...JACOB...he did not even know that was his name, since we called him Jake=)

Megan said...

I love Ben and Jacob (I have a Ben)! But, maybe Jacob is better since you'd be bringing home Joey and Jacob. In the past you've brought home children and given them names with the same first letter (Emma and Ellie, etc)....make sense?! I'm sure you've already considered that, though. Whatever you choose will be the right name(s) for your little guys!! Can't wait to hear more about them :)

I love Josiah. Just a thought...another name in the mix.

Kelly said...

What about Jameson? Last names are popular as first names right now.

Donna said...

I see him as a Micah. :)

Vicky said...

I like Benjamin too!

Margy said...

Here is a suggestion. Timothy. I think that goes very well with your other son's names and is not in the top 100 like Jacob and Benjamin are. They are both nice names though.

Margy

p.s. I enjoy your blog

My favorite name in the whole world is Josiah. We have four boys and that is the middle name of the second. I wish I had saved it as a first name. We have Ian Kane, Caleb Josiah, Jacob Elias, and Isaac Benjamin. All of these names are my favourite!

mom2joy said...

The three little girls all had M names. Maybe J names for both little boys would be good. Jacob or James would fit the bill. As would Joshua, Jonah, or Joel to add to the mix. But then again, I love the names Aaron, David and Dane. Whatever you choose, it won't take long for the little guy to become the name and the name to become the little guy.

We thought our last baby that we adopted was going to be a boy so we planned on naming him Jayden Noah but she was a precious little girl instead or another favorite is Weston. Best wishes and Gods blessings to you all!

Kristi said...

I have one who's name is Jacob, so I am partial but like Ben too! so basically I am no help :) to be even less helpful I will tell you that I have seen both boys posted on other site (for adoption) and have always thought the second looks just like a boy at my church, same age (but not Asian) , named Davis, so how about Davis Benjerman, ha! Congratulations, can not wait to follow your journey to adopt again. Kristi

I have two adopted 12 year olds - they are James and Ben. Good names. I love Jacob but it's meaning isn't near the meaning of James or Ben.

James and Joey keep the theme of beginning with the same letter like your M girls.

So, this is your last adoption?

I am partial to Ben too and I liked a previous poster's suggestions of Wilson (Will for short) :) Not a fan of Jacob. I do like James too :)

We love the name Benjamin...and I have to say that every Benjamin I have ever cared for as a pediatric nurse is an angel. I also like Jacob, not a fan of Jake. Have fun!! ~ Denee

I love James, he looks like a Jamie to me.

kristin said...

To me he looks like a Willem Qiang. :) My son's name was Qiang (was named by orphanage officials with hope that he can have a firm will, strong body, and grow up bravely). My son's name, Willem, means 'strong-willed warrior'.

I'm curious - does he have club foot? My son does. If he does I can tell you truly the best doctor in the whole world for treating them.

Danabeth said...

Out of those two I like Benjamin. But I also like someones suggestion that you name him James Jr and call him JJ. I also like Jameson although you also see many girls with that name now.

Benjamin James is my favorite. My cousin Benjamin James was one of the reasons we were able to bring home our precious Hope Marie from China...we thought we were too old according to what we had seen for guidlines and Ben called and told us about their agency who would work with you thur age 55 ( this was 2005). In Oct 2007 Ben brought home Lily and Jan 2008 we brought home Hope. Benjamin James is a precious name.

Angie said...

Sorry but have to add another. I think he looks like and Anthony James.
Anthony means: priceless and I think that is what he is a priceless treasure!

If you like William then another option would be to name him Liam. I really like that name and its a short version of William but same meaning. I do very much like Benjamin, too!

I think that your adorable little man looks like a Ben. <3

I don't understand why you would want to give children a new name. I think that it must be very hard to leave your country and language behind when you are adopted and to also lose you name is just very dehumanizing.

Mom to my China Posse said...

I vote Andrew and I know you have a son in law named Andrew so you could called he Drew or Andrew James and called him AJ

Terri said...

They are soooo cute! My vote is Benjamin. I have always loved that name! Congratulations on your two new blessings!
