Sweet Emily Turns One!

Our baby turned one in the beginning of April!

And we were so blessed to be able to spend it with her!

She invited her closest friends to her party ;-)
aka her Aunts and Uncles!

She chose to go to the Children's Museum!
(Well, maybe her Momma may have chosen it!)

It was a perfect choice!

And all of her BFF's had soooo much fun!

It had been a long time since we were their so it was new too everyone!

And even though it was spring break for many of the local schools,
it was not crowded!

Emily enjoyed every room we entered!

She was interested in everything!
But of course she wanted to put most of it in her mouth!

Emily started walking when she was about 10 months old.

She is a pro at it now!

Those little legs are as strong as can be!
Our two oldest (Matt and Katie) walked early- it is so exciting BUT
the crawling phase went by way too fast.

These two may have grown out of the children's museum but
they were wonderful helpers watching Emily!

I can't believe our baby is one year old!

Yep... she is da boss!

Mia adores her little niece!
It has been such a positive experience for her!

Our baby girl was tired and ready to head home!

It was snack time when we arrived home!

Papa adores his little girl!

We are calling ourselves Papa and Nana BUT
we will see what she decides to  calls us!

Emily was excited to open her gifts!

But she needed a little help from her Momma!

She got her first purse.
complete with lipstick, credit cards, keys, cell phone, make up mirror
and more!

She got a book!

The wrapping paper was every bit as much fun as the gifts!

And a musical tea set!

If you have followed my blog for awhile...

you know how very, very hard it was for these children to ...
just watch the present opening from a 3 foot distance!

They wanted to:
open them themselves,
get really really close,
invade personal space,
and so on!

We were proud of them!
They did a good job!
Joey may have popped a balloon
I'm not sayin he did...

Madeline may have taken a short nap so she would not succumb to the pressure...
dive in and open the gifts herself ;-)

Emily chose lasagna for dinner!
She told me herself
(maybe not)!

Dinner was a success!
The birthday girl LOVED it!

And so did her guests!

Every one of them!

Her Momma chose angel food cake
with strawberries and lots of whipped cream!

She loved it!

After the celebration Emily had a much needed

And her Nana found strawberry shortcake in the tub, stuck on the floor and all over the towel!

I think we had a successful 1st birthday for our sweet baby girl!

Her wonderful Daddy was unable to join us but he will be home very soon- Praise GOD!

Sweet girl, you are invited back for your 2nd birthday!

Happy Birthday Little Lady!! You are just as adorable as your mommy and Nana! I bet you are so bored being at Nana and Papa's. Haha! What a wonderful birthday celebration!

What a cutie!

We are Papa & Nana, too. Our 7th grandson was born last night. 7 boys in 3 years. Oh how fun it will be in a few years to have them all together. #8 is on the way, but we don't know yet if it is a boy or girl. I think we are all hoping for our first granddaughter. :)

Happy Birthday to Emily! I can hardly believe that she is already one!

What fun that she could be there to celebrate with her Papa and Nana!

Emily's best friends seem to have a wonderful time at her party!

Great photos :) I hate to be this person, but please adjust the car seat straps. So very dangerous the way they are currently set up.

She is beautiful! Love your blog and reading about them all!

I second the above comment re: carseat. As per my local police department who helped us fit ours, straps should be fully over shoulder, and buckle should be level with armpits (no lower - so NOT in middle of chest), with no more than two fingers' width of slack underneath.

It's also worth having your local police dept check whether the car seat itself is fitted properly into the car. They told me that 80-90% of them are not.

I'd love to see mom bloggers spread the word about this, actually. It could mean the difference between life and death for some precious children....
