Our Christmas Blessing!

Before Christmas, Hubby and I were blessed with a new daughter from China!

We are so thankful to have her home!
She fits in with this crew perfectly!

Her smile lights up the room!
Her name is/was Joy but we are having a bit of a challenge with the names Joy and Joey.
They sound so much alike when you say them fast.
And if you know our Joey...
he gets into a bit of trouble now and then!
We are praying about it and may add to it or change it a little!

She loves having many siblings- there's always someone to play with!

She gets along with all of the children and they are all so happy to have her with us!

She likes to do gymnastics just like our other children!
She is 10 yrs old and is just 2.5 months older than Ava!

She is a smart girl and likes to do well in school!
Older child adoption is always a bit tricky with school-
so we will start her from where she is at ,
not what grade she is "supposed to be in".

We are so thankful for this precious blessing
and we look forward to watching her grow up into a beautiful young lady!

Thank you Jesus!

My heart rejoices for you, your family and for Joy! She has an amazing smile! What a sweet blessing to have her there for Christmas!

Does this mean you will need two vehicles when you travel as a family?

I love that you start the children where they are and need to be in school!

Praying that this transition goes well for all! I can't wait to watch her grow as she is surrounded by the love of your family!

Happy New Year!

I don't know how where she is with her English but perhaps you could ask her if there is a name she would enjoy having. you could also change it to another inspirational name, Hope, Harmony, Grace, Faith. At ten years old she may be able to give you some input on a name she likes within reason.

Awesome... I think my heart skipped a beat when I read this on FB. Then I teared up. So so excited for you and especially for this sweet girl who will benefit from your home and love.

You and your husband are amazing! You remind me of Matthew 25:23 "You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things." Throughout your adoption journey you have been faithful, and early on, in faith, you took on a special need that you hadn't originally agreed to. God has rewarded your faithfulness with many more blessings. I am so happy for all of you!

She's adorable! Love her name Joy! Perhaps, you could shorten Joey to Joe. More of a big boy name?

Awww! What wonderful news! And wonderful that she was able to join you in time for Christmas! FWIW, my 2 cents on her name . . . Joy Anne!

Congratulations Jean and Family! The first name that came to my mind was Jocelyn (contains the letters J-0-Y).

This is so exciting! Congratulations to all your family. I have so many questions! How is her English? How long has this adoption been in process? I look forward to hearing whatever you choose to share. Again, congratulations!

I'm so surprised and so happy for all of you. I could tell it broke your heart not to adopt the last two from China. She will be such a blessing to you all!

Leah Joy just popped into my head.

Some people have suggested "Joy-Anna", which is a very pretty name, but maybe your daughter Anna would always turn her head whenever someone called for Joy-Anna. Joyann is pretty. Or maybe Noelle-Joy, because she is your Christmas blessing.

The nice thing about the name Joy is that it stands well on its own. It also combines well as a second name (as long as the first name is two syllables or more...)

Wow that is a surprise! Congratulations!! Wonderful news! We too were in China just before Christmas to bring home our new son, but we didn't just pop over to China and back without anyone noticing. How did you do that? When were you there? I have wanted to email you since we came home because this is our first older child adoption, (sort of older--5-years old). Our little guy talks fluently and constantly in Mandarin and I was going to ask some questions about language among other things.
About your daughter's name: there are so many lovely names out there that fit the "flavor" of names you are already using--Claire, Noelle, Jocelyn, Rachel,Leah,Victoria, Zoe and lots of others. You already have a daughter with Joy as part of her name and a daughter named Anna, as well as Johnny and Joey which are already pretty 'matchy' names. I feel like we all need a name of our own, not one that is the same as a sister or almost the same as a brother.

No matter what her name, she looks lovely.

PS Felicity means Joy and I love it, but maybe a little too different than the names of your other kids.

Jean, I was wondering who that adorable little girl was in the Christmas pictures! So excited that she is yours! How did you travel to China without us knowing, and what about the name game? I am so grateful that you have added another little one to the family. How blessed you all are!!! How about Joyce? Is that too close to Joey? How about Jane? I am sure you will figure it out without our help but it sure is fun to be part of the name game.
So happy for all of you!! On a sad note, when does Y have to return to China? He is so adorable and fits in your family so well. I am praying that there will be a forever home for him soon.

I saw what I believed to be a new face amidst your kiddos, but I wasn't sure. I kept trying to match her with the names and faces to the left on your blog. I was happy to read I wasn't crazy, but that she's your new addition. I'm thinking possibly this adoption didn't require a China trip and you were blessed with less international paperwork. However she came to your family...we know she is forever yours.
I like the suggestion of Jocelyn. I also know of just a Jossi (short "o"). Love the name Josie (long "o"), but it's a lot like Joey, too. One of our daughters has the middle name Joelle, which I love...but also very similar to Joey. Seems like Joy would be a wonderful middle name for her to keep. You could use it along with her new first name whenever it didn't cause Joey to ask himself what he did this time! I agree, it is fun, giving suggestions, as we all know how special a child's name is. You will come up with something beautiful and special for her. She looks like a very happy girl among all your children. What a blessing for all of you!
