We Didn't Know...

We didn't know?
We thought,
what we were doing... was a great choice!

From left to right-
Teddy, Quincy and Sunny.

(from left to right- Sunny, Teddy and Quincy)

We knew it would be challenging
with 3 puppies the same age but we didn't know it would
NOT be a good choice for them and for us...

Unfortunately, we were uneducated
on the do's and don'ts of adding three female puppies,
 all the same age,
to our family.

It was a blast in the beginning.

A bit overwhelming after the first few months
and a zoo as they got older.

But we loved our puppies and knew within a year
they would calm down and be great adult doggies.

What we didn't know was,
as they reach the 15 month to 2 year mark
they begin to get more territorial and claim their breeding rights.

As they hit young adulthood
and the alpha female lets the other females know,
that she is in charge and the leader of the pack.
She has all the mating rights...

Even though they are a spayed
the hormones are there
and they are strong...

Teddy exerted her right as the alpha
BUT
Quincy and Sunny didn't agree with Teddy...
And it got a bit nasty...
okay,
really nasty...

I have researched this issue at length,
talked to dog trainers,
dog behavioralist,
other breeders,
and facebook groups filled with dog owners.

This was bound to happen...
and before it gets too nasty or dangerous
we need to separate our doggies...

(The day Teddy came home!)

Apart,
 they are amazing dogs
but together at 16 months old...
not so much!

Love is NOT the issue...
We adore and are passionate about each one of our pups...

How did we choose?

We didn't...
It became obvious that our wonderful Teddy was an alpha...
so much so,
that she needed to let the others know...
And unfortunately, she didn't do it in a gentle manor...

We never ever imagined that these two beauties
would not get along as they got older...
We thought they were soul sisters!

Sweet Teddy as a puppy!

Teddy is an amazing doggy,
perfect in every way
and probably the most beautiful of all our puppies.

Unfortunately, all three have attempted to claim the alpha spot
BUT
Quincy and Sunny seem
to be getting along...
so far...
we think...???

(The good old days!)

Our hearts are breaking again...

One minute I am thinking we need to go ahead
with rehoming her...
and the next minute I'm thinking...
What are we doing and why are we doing this?
We love and adore her...
we don't want to give her up.

We feel that the Lord is asking us to do what's hard,
and to put our trust in HIM.

Instead of doing just
what we want...
we have to do what we don't want to do.

I feel like we should be the family that welcomes-
the new child,
the new dog,
the new cat,
etc...

BUT not this time...

She loves a good belly rub...

and playing in the snow!

Thankfully,
God heard our prayers
and through local friends and facebook
we found the perfect family for our beautiful
Teddy!
(Thank you, Katie and Marty!)

They live 5 miles away and still within our community!
They lost their doggy about 8 months ago
and are feeling ready now for a new doggy!
They were just beginning the search
for a Golden Retriever between 1-2 years old.
Since they had always had red Goldren's
that is what they were hoping for!
Teddy will be there 5th Golden Retriever!

They are Golden Retriever LOVERS,
just like us!

We are going to miss you sweet Teddy...

WE LOVE YOU!

Our God is so amazing and we are so thankful!

We know she will be
so loved,
showered with attention,
taken on endless walks,
and blessed by an awesome family!

Please say a pray for Teddy's adjustment!
For our family's hearts to heal,
for the many tears of our children
(and their Mother)...

And if you can,
will you say an extra prayer
that Quincy and Sunny
get along
and can live together...
with us!

(Teddy, Quincy, Sunny)

Thank you dear friends!

Hubby, Sarah and Melissa brought Teddy to her new home today.
There was a bed waiting for her in the family room
and a crate in her new parents bedroom!
She gets the run of the house!
AND it was her new Mom's birthday!
What a great gift both ways!
Thank you Jesus!

Happy Easter 2018

The Easter season was a blessing for our family!

Through the GRACE of God everything fell into place...

The whole LENT season was a blessing!
Hubby and I both gave up something for Lent.
(and were successful)
We are reading through the Bible and loving it!
(It's going to take us longer than a year but we're good if it takes us 2 years!)
We did not eat meat on Fridays
and we were able to attend our church production of,
"The Passion of Christ",
we watched the movie "The Passion of Christ"
with some of our kiddos at home
and
attended Holy Thursday Mass
and
Easter Mass.

We had a birthday on March 31st, two on April 1st and another on on April 2nd.
We had 24 people at our house for Easter Brunch
and we even made it to church in time
to sit in the main sanctuary (that alone is a miracle)!
We are usually the family standing outside of the gym
peeking in now and then to see the second service...

Best of all everyone had a wonderful time,
we made great memories and felt it was a more meaningful Easter!

We celebrated two of the birthdays during the week so we could focus on EASTER!
The children loved not competing with a major holiday and having their own day!

The other Easter Bday was our granddaughter and they celebrated in DC.
We visited them the next weekend and were able to celebrate
our precious grand daughter with her family!
Yes, all of this will be future blog posts!
Our April 2nd b-day was able to celebrate on her day!

And the Dear Lord gave us the energy to follow through
with all of this and completely enjoy- ourselves, the celebrations and the children!

GOD is so AMAZING!

I hard boiled 3 dozen eggs and only cracked one!
FYI- when we made egg salad after the holiday
we found that a few of the eggs...
weren't quite hard boiled
enough~ oops!

The children are older now
and doing activities like this is much easier
than it used to be!

We just get it set up and they go ahead and do it!

Last year we discovered the tie dye
egg coloring kit!

Once you get the hang of it
the eggs turn out beautiful!

Our kiddos love cooking shows!
Our birthday girl, Jenny cut the avocados!

They have learned so much by watching the cooking shows-
new kitchen vocabulary, cooking techniques
and a desire to be creative in the kitchen!

Now, they are teaching me to be brave in the kitchen!

We made three extra large egg dishes of Easter Brunch!
They were loaded with great veggies, cheese and ham!

The onions got to Sarah!
Don't cry honey, it'll be okay!

They all LOVE to help cook!

I had more helpers than jobs to do!

The level of enthusiasm makes the process such a joy!

Even the boys got into it!
They were our broccoli cutters!

The birthday boy put the cheese on the egg dishes!

Jake is working on his smile while keeping his eyes open!
Fir him, it's like rubbing his tummy and patting his head at the same time!
This is a good pic of our boy!

Egg Dish #1
Ham, cheese, broccoli, tomatoes, avocado
Egg Dish #2
Ham, Cheese, spinach, tomatoes, avacado
(my favorite!)
Egg Dish #3
Ham, Cheese, Green, orange and yellow peppers, onions

One after another the children migrated into our room!

The boys discussed sports with Dad.

Abby wears an eye mask and ear plugs to bed!
She is a hoot!
So much personality!

Soon...
there was no room for the Mother and Father...

The next day was Easter Sunday!
Ready or Not!

No spring dresses here...
we are having a vary cold and snowy spring...
Church was first on the list of things to do!

Once we got home we ate brunch!
After chatting and relaxing it was time for~

The annual egg fight!

Everyone has their eggs and we are ready to go!

Here are the brackets!

Everyone checked to see who they were matched up with!
Let the EGG FIGHT begin!

Melissa beat Ava!

Jake beat Luke

Cousin Annie lost to Hubby

Sarah vs Mia

Ellie against Abby I.

Abby over Anna

Jenny was victorious over Melissa!

Auntie Barb vs Hubby

Guess who won that match!
My sis has a lot of positive energy!

Madeline beat Jake!

Abby beat Jenny

We take this annual egg fight seriously!

Sarah beat Abby I.!

Our FINAL FOUR!

Sorry Barb!

The final match up!
And Sarah was our Champion for 2018!

After many of our guest left we had our egg hunt!

This is group #1!

The four big kids(Sarah, Mia, Ellie and Emma)
filled the eggs and hid them with Johnny and Abby I!
Unfortunately, they are too grown up for an egg hunt ;-(

And group #2!

And group #3!

All of the kids found 9-13 eggs!
3 eggs were found later!
That always happens to us!

So very thankful for the gift of the Holy Spirit
and Eternal Life through our faith in Jesus Christ!

HE HAS RISEN!
